Munawarali Cassoobhai is a chartered accountant with over 20 years international consulting experience. His experience in Canada, the Middle East, UK, and Pakistan includes executing, managing and leading over 100 advisory and consulting projects of varying complexity across various sectors. He has successfully guided retail, manufacturing, banking, insurance, investment, oil and gas, not-for profit, and other companies through their life cycle.
Munawarali has worked for two of the world’s leading accounting and advisory firms namely PwC and KPMG. These projects were aimed at improving business cash flow, introducing process efficiencies, achieving organizational effectiveness and helping clients achieve strategic objectives. His experience includes an extensive exposure to leading and working with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams from all over the world.
In Canada, he has helped family businesses on implementing best practices in family business governance. As a family business specialist, he helps companies find the right governance structure and achieve trans-generational objective. What Munawarali delivers for family business is a well-defined plan that helps align the culture, values and goals of the family on the same level as that of the business, managing rather than avoiding exposure to conflict and efficient decision making framework.
In his most recent project he is advising an insurance company with restructuring its banking arrangements by pooling collections, eliminating use of paper (digitizing) and manual task, preparing cashflow dashboards, mapping of chart of accounts to financial statements to automate the preparation thereof, and identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies. He is also assisting the Board in developing the strategy and business plan.
In Canada, he also has the experience of leading the KPMG International’s Global Advisory Learning & Development function for Transaction and Restructuring practice where he identified opportunities for and implemented restructuring of the curriculum to align the same with the Global Advisory (Business) and Global Advisory Learning & Development strategies. He worked with virtual teams from US, UK and Australia..
